South Rumford Road Reopens With Limited Hours

The South Rumford Road, closed since the weekend of June 27th when torrential rains washed out a large segment of the road and the Thurston Bridge in Rumford, is now open to traffic from 3:30 in the afternoon until 7:30 in the morning.

Currently there is one lane of alternating, one-way traffic regulated by signal lights while crews finish repairs to the remainder of the road. Areas that were washed out still need to be raised to the same grade as the undamaged section of road, then repaved. These repairs are expected to last another three weeks before both lanes of the road are reopened.

Construction crews must close the road in order to conduct repairs, necessitating the road closure during the day between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m
