Description of State Maintenance lines established for
delimiting the urban area of


Augusta, Kennebec County, Maine



Augusta

Beginning at the intersection of Riverside Drive (U.S. Route 201) and the Augusta-Vassalboro town line; thence, southeasterly to the Stevens Road at a point 0.50 mile east of Riverside Drive, point of reference utility pole #9 south side of road; thence, southwesterly to Blair Road at a point 0.30 mile east of Riverside Drive, point of reference utility pole #6 south side of road; thence, southerly to a point on North Belfast Avenue (U.S. Route 202) 0.27 mile easterly of Boucher Avenue, point of reference utility pole #J-36/36 north side of road; thence, southeasterly to the junction of South Belfast Avenue (State Route 105) and Cony Road; thence, south to Eastern Avenue (State Route 17) at the southwest corner of the junkyard fence 0.15 mile east of Cony Road; thence, southeasterly to a point on Cony Road 0.20 mile south of Eastern Avenue, point of reference utility pole #540/7 east side of road;

Thence, southerly via the east right-of-way boundary of Cony Road to the Augusta-Chelsea town line; thence, westerly via said town line through Hospital Street (State Route 9) to the Kennebec River (convergence of the Augusta-Chelsea-Hallowell town lines); thence, northerly via said river (Augusta-Hallowell town line) to a corner in the Augusta-Hallowell town line; thence, westerly crossing the Maine Central Railroad track, State Street (U.S. Route 201), Sewall Street, and continuing westerly and northerly crossing Interstate Route 95 to the intersection with the Manchester town line;

Thence, northerly via the Augusta-Manchester town line through Western Avenue (U.S. Route 202) and through Prescott Road; thence easterly and then northerly via the Augusta-Manchester town line to a point where the town line then heads westerly; thence northeasterly to a point 1.23 miles north of Old Winthrop Road on Leighton Road, reference utility pole #38/83/11; thence southeasterly to a point on Bond Brook Road, 0.50 mile northwesterly of Mount Vernon Avenue (State Route 8-11-27), point of reference utility pole #60/17 north side of road; thence northerly to the intersection of Oakland Road and Hescock Street; thence northeasterly along the northwesterly right of way of Oakland Road for 0.54 mile to the intersection of Oakland Road and Civic Center Drive (State Routes 8-11-27);

Thence, southeasterly to the northerly point of the northbound on ramp of the Interstate 95 Belgrade interchange; thence, southeasterly the northerly right-of-way boundary of the Ballard Road at the junction of said road and the Old Belgrade Road; thence, southeasterly along the west right-of-way boundary of the Old Belgrade Road to a culvert 0.25 mile from the West River Road; thence, northeasterly to the West River Road (State Route 104) at a point 0.71 mile north of the Old Belgrade Road, point of reference utility pole #73/9/81; thence, due east to the Kennebec River; thence, northeasterly via said river to the convergence of the Augusta-Vassalboro-Sidney town lines; thence, easterly via the Augusta-Vassalboro town line crossing the Maine Central Railroad track to Riverside Drive (U.S. Route 201), the point of beginning.

NOTE: Bridges, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance Line are in the rural area.
