Description of State Maintenance Boundary Lines established for delimiting the urban area of

Freeport, Cumberland County, Maine

 

Freeport

 

          Beginning at the intersection of Main Street (U.S. Route 1) and upper Mast Landing Road; thence, northeasterly along the northwesterly right of way of US Route 1 to a point 0.31 miles north of Upper Mast Landing Road, reference utility pole # 69, thence southwesterly along the southeasterly right of way of US Route 1 to the intersection of Upper Mast Landing Road, thence, southerly to the intersection of Bow Street, Lower Mast Landing Road and Flying Point Road; thence, easterly along the northerly right of way of Flying Point Road (inv. rd. 00350) to the intersection of Pleasant Hill Road (inv. Rd # 00358, thence westerly along the southerly right of way of  Flying Point Road to the intersection of Lower Mast Landing Road, thence, southwesterly to the intersection of West Street and South Street (inv. rd. 00429); thence, southerly along the easterly right of way of South Street  to the intersection of Lower Mast Landing Road (inv. rd. 00361), thence, southwesterly along the easterly right of way of South Freeport Road (inv. rd. 00429) to the intersection of Smelt Brook Road, 0.19 miles southwest of Park Street.

 

Thence northeasterly along the westerly right of way of South Freeport Road to the intersection of Lower Mast Landing Road (inv. rd. 00361), thence, southwesterly to the intersection of Main St. (U.S. Route 1) and Desert Road; thence, southwesterly along the southeasterly right of way of US Route 1 to the Yarmouth-Freeport town Line; thence, northeasterly along the northwesterly right of way of US Route 1 to the intersection of Desert Road; thence, northwesterly along the southerly right of way Desert Road for 0.21 miles to the intersection of I-95 southbound Ramps; thence southeasterly along the northerly right of way of Desert Road to the intersection of US Route 1; thence, northeasterly to the Interstate 95 overpass of Maine Central Railroad; thence, northeasterly along the easterly right-of-way boundary of northbound Interstate 95, to Mallet Drive (State Route 125-136); thence, northwesterly along the southerly right of way of Mallet Drive to  Pownal Road; thence, along the southeasterly and southwesterly right of way of Pownal Road for 0.44 miles to the intersection of Breezy Acres; thence, along the northeasterly and then the northwesterly right of way of Pownal Road to Durham Road; thence, along the westerly right of way of Durham Road (Route # 125 & 136) from the intersection of Pownal Road extending northerly to the intersection of Durham Road and Scribner Drive (Scribner Drive is 0.11 miles north of Griffin Road, Route 125), a distance of 0.82 miles; thence southerly along the easterly right of way of Durham Road to the intersection of Mallet Drive; thence, southeasterly along the northerly right of way of Mallet Drive to the easterly right of way of Interstate 95 northbound; thence, northeasterly along the easterly right-of-way of Interstate 95 to Frost Gully Brook; thence, easterly to the intersection of Main Street (U.S. Route 1) and Upper Mast Landing Road, the point of beginning.

 

Also; a section on Wardtown Road (Route 125) beginning at the intersection of Wardtown Road and Woodside Lane (inv. rd. # 02105) and extending northerly to the Freeport-Durham town line, a distance of 3.43 miles.

 

Note: Bridges, if any, bisected by the State Maintenance line are in the rural area.
