Commissioners
Members of the Commission are appointed by the Governor for staggered terms of 5 years each. No more than 3 of the members may be of the same political party. The members are subject to review by the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over judiciary and confirmation by the Legislature. The Governor designates one member to be the chair.
CURRENT MEMBERS
PAUL K. VESTAL JR. was first appointed as a member in 1990. He was reappointed in 1993, 1998, and for a fourth term in 2003. In June 2005, he was named Chair by Governor Baldacci. His current term expires in 2008. Mr. Vestal resides in Plymouth.
JADINE R. O'BRIEN of Portland was appointed as a Commissioner by Governor Baldacci in 2004 to fill an unexpired term. She was reappointed in 2005 for a term which expires in 2009.
SALLIE CHANDLER of Lebanon was appointed as a Commissioner by Governor Baldacci in 2007 to fill an unexpired term which ends in 2010.
JOSEPH PERRY of Searsport was appointed as a Commissioner by Governor Baldacci in 2007. His term expires in 2011.
