Notes From BIS Customer Support

By Ginnie Ricker

At the last Information Services Managers Group (ISMG) meeting, the Bureau of Information Services (BIS) asked the agencies to partner with our current Change Process. This request was a result of the recent network issues that all of State government experienced. In an attempt to minimize network issues the Bureau felt this request was one way of eliminating days of research to resolve future network issues.

By asking the agencies to partner with BIS in the current change process, it will assist us all to better plan and understand the changes taking place on any given day. Although everyone follows a proactive process for adding network devices, many times the network impact is unknown until it is too late. All ISMG members were given a copy of the current Change Process procedures. Although this is a voluntary partnership, we are hopeful that everyone will see the benefits of collaboration.

Not only will the Change Notes continue to be delivered as they always have been, you may also access the Change Notes calendar through Outlook/Exchange at: Public Folders_All Public Folders_All State Agencies_ChangeNotes. This calendar will be updated as an addition to the current delivered e-mail.

On the move…….

Since my employment with BIS began in October, I have had the pleasure to meet with many of the Bureau’s customers. I appreciate everyone taking the time to meet with me and give me a better understanding of what your agency is responsible for. As we have met, it became apparent that a focus on our communications was needed.

With this in mind, BIS will be implementing some changes in the near future.

We are excited about making these changes to assist in providing better communications, to you, our customer.
