Challenge for September

Suzie normally is asleep by 11 pm after setting the alarm on her digital clock for 7 am. Her clock shows hours and minutes, and is NOT a 24 hour clock. How many "sequential" numbers occur while she is sleeping (ignore the colon between the hours and minutes)? A sequential number is of the form 789 or 8765, where there are 3 or more digits in numerical order, either increasing or decreasing.

Please e-mail Lester Dickey with your answer and your name, phone number, and the organization for which you work. Or call Barbara Buck at 624-9501. The winner will be drawn from all the correct entries and will receive a FREE pizza from Spanky's Pizza. All answers must be in no later than the 14th of the month.

Last month's challenge brought 34 answers, of which 32 were correct. The winner is Terrie McLaughlin of Workers Comp, chosen by random drawing from the correct answers.

The answer to last month’s Challenge is: There were nine people in the original group.
