Thanksgiving Food

Challenge for November

Sonya works at Shaw’s Supermarket after school, arranging food displays. This time, she wants to set up cans of tomato soup in the form of a square pyramid. She has room to use 9 cans for each side of the square base of the pyramid.

For the free pizza drawing: If each carton of soup contains 24 cans, how many cartons will she have to open to build the pyramid? For "extra credit," but no extra pizza: How many cans of soup did she have left over?

Please e-mail Lester Dickey with your answer and your name, phone number, and the organization for which you work. Or call Barbara Buck at 624-9501. The winner will be drawn from all the correct entries and will receive a FREE pizza, either from CJ’s Pizza or from the EDOC Cafeteria. All answers must be in no later than the 14th of the month.

Last month's challenge brought 26 answers, with all of them qualifying. The winner, chosen by random drawing, is Steve LeBlanc of the Maine Revenue Services.

The answer to the September Challenge is: Pitch, score, major, minor, base/bass, hit, swing, play, slice, strike, and many others. Their (there), three (two), errers (errors).
