Power Generator to be Installed

In late September, Maine Revenue Services and Bureau of Information Services workers started to notice a flurry of workers and some demolition underway at their worksite! This was the beginning of a project to install a backup diesel power generator in the electrical room of the State's computer and telecommunications communications center. This generator will protect the computer systems from unexpected loss of power and keep the machines running to continue service to Bureau of Information Services customers during power outages.

We hope the generator will be functional by December 18. However, at least two more controlled power outages to relocate wire to the new generator, and rerun feeds in the existing scheme of the building are anticipated during November or early December. Our contractor knows the impact of any power outage, and will try to keep them short, and scheduled at convenient times. So far, this installation project is progressing on schedule.
