Plans for the 35th annual Head Start Christmas party are underway. This years party will be held at the Augusta Armory on Wednesday, December 11. Santa has reserved this date on his calendar; Blaine House cooks will prepare holiday cookies; the tree has been ordered and it will be decorated with handmade mittens which will be handed out to children on party day. The State Troopers Association will also be giving each child a teddy bear. Approximately 150 Head Start children from the greater Augusta area will be joining us for this years party. We need your help! Can you knit mittens to fit 3-5 year old children? Yarn and monetary donations (to defray the cost of gifts) will also be gladly accepted. They may be sent to Beverly Wrigley (beverly.wrigley@state.me.us) at 145 State House Station or call 624-9440. We can pick up donations.
Please put December 11 on your calendar and join Santa, Mrs. Claus and Governor King at the Armory to watch the happiness and delight you have helped bring to these less fortunate children. |
