The Radio Services team has two objectives: The first objective is to provide consolidated radio services across all participating State agencies for communication towers, radios, microwave, and public safety communication systems. These radio services for equipment and infrastructure include:
- Maintenance
- Installation
- Replenishment
- Training
- Consulting/ Engineering
- Frequency Coordination
The second objective for Radio Services is to be the sponsor and technical lead for the Maine State Communication Network (MSCommNet) project. This project is a Statewide effort to provide a seamless communications network for all State agencies. The project includes building excess infrastructure capacity to accommodate counties and municipalities that may choose to leverage the State's infrastructure. The communication system will be based upon a very high frequency (VHF), high band, digital network with a backhaul consisting of a microwave and landline.
