Who Can Use This Service?

Any Maine licensed driver with an active digital license, digital motorcycle license or digital motor driven cycle restricted license and any holder of a digital Maine ID card. This service is not available for commercial driver license holders. Please review the frequently asked questions for more information on eligibility requirements.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you receive an error message during this online process pertaining to the address on your credential or a message regarding proof of Citizenship or Legal Presence, you will need to proceed to a motor vehicle branch office or mobile unit site to complete your transaction. In an effort to improve customer service and reduce wait times in regional branch offices minor changes have been made to the expiration dates on some Maine licenses. A portion of license holders due to renew have been selected as eligible recipients to obtain a license valid for 4 years instead of 6. By staggering the duration of drivers licenses, BMV will be able to level out the demand for license renewal services. The price per year remains a fee of $5.

• A valid credit card (Visa or Mastercard)
• A printer
• Note: The feature allowing users to update hair color and/or weight is temporarily unavailable. Therefore, persons needing to update their weight or hair color must visit a BMV branch office.
