Max Schubel v. GEICO

Held August 27, 2009 – Docket No. INS-09-2093
Decision Issued: September 16, 2009

The insured requested a hearing to dispute the cancellation of an automobile insurance policy for revocation of a driver’s license. The company demonstrated that a driver’s license had been revoked during the policy term.

Held: For the company. GEICO established that a suspension of a driver’s license occurred during the policy term or within 180 days before its last renewal date. The reason for the suspension was not affected by one of the exceptions provided in 24-A M.R.S.A. § 2914(4), therefore the cancellation action was permitted.
