The occupational and professional licensing boards within the Office of Licensing and Registration are charged with the responsibility of disciplining licensees who have violated practice standards, acted dishonestly or acted unethically. In fact, the imposition of professional discipline is probably the single most important aspect of the boards' duties. The disciplinary process is set forth in statute and has been further refined by OLR practice and procedure. See OLR's Administrative Complaint Procedures.

Discipline can be imposed via a consent agreement between a board and a licensee, by a board decision following a contested administrative hearing, or by court decision. Discipline can include any combination of a warning, censure or reprimand; a civil penalty of up to $1500 per violation; suspension of up to 90 days per violation; probation with conditions; license surrender or suspension; or revocation.

The Department of Professional and Financial Regulation provides information about disciplinary actions taken against licensees as a public service. This does not provide complete information about the disciplinary action taken or the underlying circumstances. The Department of Professional and Financial Regulation does not warrant or represent that this information is current, complete and accurate and it is subject to change without notice.

For the years 2000 – 2006, the licensee discipline pages for the individual programs contain brief summaries of the action taken. Before making any decisions based on this information, it is suggested that you obtain the full text of a Consent Agreement or Decision and Order summarized on these pages by contacting the Complaint Coordinator at 624-8660.

Beginning with calendar year 2007, the licensee discipline pages for the individual programs contain a list of the action taken, and links to download the full text of a Consent Agreement or Decision and Order in PDF format.
