Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor

Pursuant to Title 32, Chapter 81, §6203-A(9)

"Licensed alcohol and drug counselor" means an individual who provides individual or group alcohol and drug counseling services independently within an agency or in private practice and who meets the criteria established in section 6214-D. A licensed alcohol and drug counselor may also assume clinical supervision duties upon being licensed by the board as a certified clinical supervisor."

This application is solely for determining your eligibility and to qualify you for for an exam. It does not qualify you for licensure at this time.

You will be required to submit a separate application for licensure once you have passed the ADC and Advanced ADC examinations.

Renewal Fees and Information

Fees
  • Annual renewal fee $65.00
Terms
  • Renews annually on November 30th
Requirements
  • You may renew your license begining 60 days prior to your expiration date. Renew now! You do not need to wait for a renewal reminder notice.
  • Late fee of $50 assessed if renewing after November 30th
  • If application submitted more than 90 days after the November 30 expiration date, you will be subject to all requirements governing new applicants. (See 32 MRSA §6219). You will be required to reapply by filing a reinstatement application with documentation and fees.
  • Continuing Education: 36 contact hours of continuing education is required prior to the November 30 renewals (biennially) i.e., 2011, 2013, 2015, etc.

The Department must verify that you have met all the conditions for renewal before your license is renewed. Online submission of your renewal application should not be construed as automatic renewal of your license.
