- REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF CATEGORY I CREDITS
The Board reviewed the January 21, 2004 letter from Johanna Melchiore a licensed dietitian requesting a waiver of the four hours of Category I continuing education activities based upon her primary residence in the remote area of Northern Saskatchewan, Canada where access to attend formal programs is a hardship.
While the board does not have the authority to waive continuing education activities, it does have the authority to defer continuing education activities to some future date based upon proof
of hardship. In a motion by Robert Bender, seconded by Marianne Stevens, the board voted unanimously to defer four hours of Category 1 continuing education activities required for the December 2004 renewal to be completed with the December 2005 renewal.
- ACTION ON REQUEST FOR RENEWAL OF DIETETIC TECHNICIAN’S LICENSE
Reviewed was the renewal application for licensure of Laura F. Gervais received by the Board on December 23, 2003 in which Ms. Gervais answered “No” to the question “Have you met the terms of the continuing education requirements?” Upon review, in a motion by Robert Bender, seconded by Marianne Stevens, the board voted unanimously to preliminarily deny this application for licensure for failure to meet the requirements for renewal of licensure as required under Maine law, 32 M.R.S.A. §9909 & §9910(D) and Board Rules, Chapter 2, Section 3(B).
- ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – PENNY VAILLANCOURT
The Board was presented with a financial analysis of its revenue and expenses.
Ms. Vaillancourt informed the Board of a legislative update that gives it the ability to waive or defer continuing education requirements for military personnel.
- ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, in a motion by Marianne Stevens, seconded by Robert Bender, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Diane Bradstreet
Board Clerk
