To ensure that someone is available to assist you, we recommend that you schedule an appointment in advance. Please contact us by email or by phone or through our other online services, and we will assist you. After making an appointment, click on this link for directions.
Effective November 1, 2023, the online renewal system will require that all documentation required for certificate renewal be submitted at the time of the renewal. This means that elevator owners or their assignees, will be responsible for submitting the following documents online when renewing an elevator certificate.
- Current Annual Periodic Inspection Report.
- Signoff from the maintenance company showing that all deficiencies have been repaired.
- The renewal Application.
- Required renewal fees.
The online renewal system will not allow you to renew your unit if any of these required documents are missing.
Additionally, we will no longer allow elevator maintenance companies to submit documentation for elevator certificate renewals.
We encourage you to reach out to your elevator inspector and elevator maintenance company in advance of the renewal to ensure that you have all the documents necessary to complete the renewal process.

Notice Regarding License Verification Requests (PDF)
Effective March 1, 2019, the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation (OPOR) will no longer issue paper license verifications. License verifications are available, free of charge, on OPOR’s official database, https://www.pfr.maine.gov/ALMSOnline/ALMSQuery/Welcome.aspx?board=4530. This database is updated in real time as changes occur. The Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation considers this information to be a secure, primary source for license verification.

What's New
NOTICE CONCERNING DELIVERY OF ELEVATOR/TRAMWAY INDIVIDUAL LICENSES
Individual Elevator/Tramway licenses are now delivered to licensees via email. Unit certificate renewal reminders and renewed certificates are emailed to the elevator owner. The email sender is displayed as "noreply@maine.gov" and the subject as "YOUR OFFICIAL (license type) LICENSE IS ATTACHED". Paper licenses will NOT be mailed to individual licensees with an email address on file with the Program.
You have the opportunity to update your contact information when you renew your license online or you may update your email address and other contact information anytime here.
