Using the Maine.gov Website

Having trouble finding what you need? Read the tips below to help you use Maine.gov more effectively.

  • Explore the category pages of this site using the blue category tabs near the top of every page (Government, Business, Travel, etc.). When you select a category, you will see sub-topics to choose from.
  • Check the sidebar. In the right-hand sidebar of most pages, we have provided links to the most common requests, services, and agencies for each topic and listed them under "Online Services," "How Do I...?", and "See Also".
  • Try "How Do I...?" We have provided answers to some of the most common questions. The answer to your question may be here.
  • Use the Search tool. Search Maine state government web pages using the search box at the top right of every page. Learn more about searching Maine.gov. Please note that Legislative statutes and bills are not included when using the regular search engine. Instead, use the Legislative search engines.
  • Use the Site Map. The Site Map is a quick reference to all major pages on the Maine.gov web portal.
  • View our list of Online Services to see what you can purchase online, search state data, use online forms, or access services. Learn more about using Maine.gov online services.
  • Looking for a state agency? Visit the Agency Index for web pages and contact information for Maine state agencies, quasi-agencies, and state programs.
  • Expand your search to the entire Web. You may find what you're looking for on a non-government website. We've provided links to government directories and search engines, Maine search engines, and all-purpose search engines.
