2012 Maine Tax Forum News

As previously announced in the September, 2012 Maine Tax Alert, the 16th Annual Maine Tax Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, November 7th and Thursday, November 8th, 2012 at the Augusta Civic Center.

As in prior years, CPE/CLE credits are available to attendees. Though MRS did not originally meet the requirements to be a qualified Internal Revenue Service Continuing Education provider, we continue to work with the IRS in seeking approval to issue CPE credits for federal-related tax sessions.  Those interested in receiving IRS certified CPE credits must provide MRS with their PTIN issued by the IRS.  We will issue a notice in a future Tax Alert or at the Tax Forum itself if we receive approval from the IRS. .

Seating for the 2012 Maine Tax Forum will not be limited. All paid applications received on or before October 15, 2012 will be accepted because we will have overflow seating in the North Wing on the 2nd floor at the Augusta Civic Center where the live presentations will be projected on screen. Seating in both rooms will be on the basis of first come/first served.  Note that the deadline of October 15, 2012 is firm and is required for planning purposes, including arrangements with the Augusta Civic Center.  The forum brochure (including application for registration) will be available on the Maine Revenue Services web site at www.maine.gov/revenue (select the "2012 Maine Tax Forum") until October 16, 2012.

No presentation materials will be distributed at the forum.  Most of the presentations will be posted online and available to be downloaded by registered attendees before, during and after the forum.  A listing of where the presentations are posted will be included in confirmation letters sent to those registered to attend the forum during the last week of October.  Free Wifi will be available to forum attendees at the Augusta Civic Center.
