Waldo-Hancock Bridge

The bridge, from the town of Prospect (in Waldo County) to the Verona (in Hancock County), was begun in 1929 and completed in 1931. After over seventy years of service, it is slated for replacement. The Maine Department of Transportation has determined that it's suspension cables have deteriorated to a degree that it is not cost-effective to rehabilitate.

The Archives holds the permanently valuable records of all State agencies.  Among them are some insights into the history and visual attraction of the bridge.
