Yes, I want to be a Maine History Day judge/volunteer! MNHD Judge Form (pdf, 22kb) Volunteer for Maine History DayMaine National History Day: April 3, 2013 - Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events
Volunteer Opportunities for Judges and Others! The Maine National History Day program sponsored by the Maine State Archives, needs judges for our contest on April 3, 2013 at the University of Maine at Augusta. Our teams of judges serve to evaluate the five NHD categories students are eligible to submit entries for: paper, documentary, exhibit, web site and performance. Additional volunteers are also needed to help the day run smoothly. Although previous History Day experience is not necessary to volunteer, we do recommend that you have a background in education and/or history to be involved with this program in order to be fair to students and teachers who have devoted so much time and energy to their projects. Information will be sent prior to the contest date, and there will be a judges’ training session if necessary. Judges will meet for an on-site orientation on the day of the contest which typically begins at 8:00 AM. A typical Maine History day judge would serve from between 9:00 and 1:00 PM (depending on the number of participants). Results and awards follow with students dispersing at approximately 3:00 pm. Volunteers are treated to refreshments in the morning and a box lunch at noon.
