Researchers with the Pew Center on the States, in conjunction with Nielsen Norman Group, measured the usability and effectiveness of state election Web sites based on benchmarks that range from quickly finding the site itself to how easily users can locate important voting information. Based on these criteria, each site was assigned a usability score using a scale from 1 to 100.

Maine's Secretary of State received honors as PostNewsweek Tech Media announced the winners of the 2004 Government Computer News Awards. From a field of 116 nominations, the Maine Secretary of State's SOSonline.org was chosen as one of 10 winners by a panel of editors from Government Computer News (GCN) and Washington Technology for innovative IT accomplishments. GCN and Washington Technology are leading sources of news and information about technology in government. |

Maine's UCC Total Solution service was recognized as one of 30 exemplary electronic government applications from around the world by EGov and Federal Computer Week. UCC Total Solution was created through a partnership of the Bureau of Corporations, Elections, and Commissions and InforME . The service allows businesses to complete all UCC transactions with the state electronically, including searching and filing UCCs, a debtor name index, and document authentication service. |
