2014 Candidate's Guide to Ballot Access

This Guide describes the requirements and procedures for candidates to gain access to the ballots for the June 10, 2014 Primary Election and November 4, 2014 General Election. It also provides instructions for completing and circulating nomination petitions.

Write-in Candidates

A person whose name does not appear on the ballot may be elected to an office if the person files a Declaration of Write-in Candidacy no later than 45 days prior to the election. A write-in candidate must fulfill all qualifications for the office sought.The filing deadline for the November 4, 2014 General Election is by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014.

IMPORTANT: There is a specific Declaration of Write-in Candidacy for each office. You must complete and file the correct Declaration as it includes the qualifications for that office. Please note that the PDF version of the Declaration is a "fillable" document; you may insert text and print the completed Declaration.
