TITLE: Fishing on Waters under Jurisdiction of Maine Indian Tribal-State
Commission
STATUTORY OR OTHER BASIS: 30 MRSA §6207(3)
PURPOSE OF THE RULE: To clarify enforcement provisions relating to fishing
on MITSC waters and other issues that the State and the Tribes agree
need to be addressed.
SCHEDULE FOR ADOPTION: Winter 2003-04
LISTING OF AFFECTED PARTIES: Potentially benefited and regulated parties
include Passamaquoddy and Penobscot Tribal Members, as well as non-Tribal
Members who fish on MITSC waters.
INFORMATION ON ANY PLANNED USE OF CONSENSUS-BASED RULE DEVELOPMENT:
MITSC is premised on the concept of consensus. Adoption of MITSC's rules
cannot occur unless there is agreement by the State of Maine, the Passamaquoddy
Tribe, and the Penobscot Nation.
