AUGUSTA, MAINE – Secretary of State Charlie Summers will be speaking at the Vietnam War Memorial Dedication Ceremony during the Turner 225th Anniversary on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM.

Secretary Summers will be honoring the memory of Phillip Bryant, who gave his life while serving in the Vietnam Conflict.  He will also pay homage to all those who have given their lives in service to preserve our nation’s freedom.

Phillip Bryant, a Turner resident and Hospital Corpsman, was killed serving with 4th Marines in the Quang Tri Province, on the border of North and South Vietnam. The Sons of the American Legion squadron of Turner and the local American Legion Auxiliary unit raised the money for the monument.
