Secretary of State Charles E. Summers Jr. Administers Oath of Office to Members of the Commission to Study the Conduct of Elections in Maine

Secretary of State Charlie Summers appointed the Commission to Study the Conduct of Elections in Maine.  The 125th Maine State Legislature under Resolve Chapter 133 authorized a study of our current election system.  The Secretary of State will report the Commission’s findings and any recommended legislation for the 126th Legislature, to the Joint Standing Committee on Veterans and Legal Affairs no later than February 1, 2013.  Commission Members include Hon. John Atwood, Mr. Timothy Wilson, Hon. Larry Willey, Hon. Paula D. Silsby and Ms. Linda Cohen (a sixth seat on the Commission is TBD).  Commission meetings are open to the public; the next meeting will take place on May 25, 2012 at 2 pm at the Secretary of State’s Office.
