State Archivist David Cheever Speaks at Great Falls Elementary about Maine’s involvement in the American Civil War

Presentation to students is part of the Secretary of State’s Sesquicentennial for Schools Program

 

State Archivist Discusses Maine's Involvement in the Civil War

 

AUGUSTA, Maine – State Archivist, David Cheever speaks to 5th grade students at Great Falls Elementary in Gorham on May 28, 2013.  Mr. Cheever’s presentation covered Maine's role in pivotal events of the Civil War with a specific focus on the 16th and 25th Maine, which was made-up of men from Gorham and surrounding towns.

The Sesquicentennial for Schools Program is part of an ongoing commemoration by the Maine State Archives of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of America’s Civil War.
