Topsham Motor Vehicle Office Moving to New Location

TOPSHAM ? Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announces the relocation of the Topsham Bureau of Motor Vehicles office to 125B Main St.

The branch office, which is currently located at 49 Topsham Fair Mall Road, Suite #25, will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 26 and Friday, Feb. 27 to allow for the move. The office will reopen to the public on Monday, March 2 in its new location.

?This is a great move for us,? said Dunlap. ?It will improve access to the services we offer for the public, and is not too far removed from where we?ve been for years.

?Our priority is always to provide safe, convenient access for Maine motorists to our branch locations. This new location will provide greater comfort for the public and our staff, and enhance our ability to provide excellent service.?

A ribbon cutting ceremony at the new 125B Main St. office is scheduled for Monday, March 16 at 10:30 a.m. Dunlap will be joined by Patty Morneault, deputy secretary of state for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Lucy Taylor, senior section manager for the BMV Central District, Jennifer Pease, director of public services, and other BMV staff members. Also in attendance will be landlord Terry Gray and elected officials from the area, including Sen. Linda Baker, Rep. Denise Tepler and Rep. Brian Hobart.

The move is being made to provide for added visibility, and is in an area with less traffic congestion than the current branch office.?The Main Street location will allow for easier access, as well as designated parking for the public.?The new branch also has updated systems and is more energy efficient.

Wayne Russell is the manager of the Topsham branch, which has been located at 49 Topsham Fair Mall Road since December 1988. The branch phone number will remain the same, at 725-6520.
