For Parents

Suicidal behavior is both complex and frightening, especially if you are a parent supporting a youth who has lost a friend to suicide or is suicidal.  The information in this section (see items on the left) offers suggestions on how to help.  At the same time that you are dealing with your child's needs, please be aware of your need for support and access all the resources that are available to you.

For additional information, go to http://library.sprc.org/ and click on youth.  Articles such as: "Parent Guidelines for Crisis Response", "Parent's Guide to Cyberbullying: Addressing the Harm Caused by Online Social Cruelty", and "A Parent's Guide to Recognizing and Treating Depression in Your Child" provide information on related topics.
