Goals: To advise and educate the public on the conservation of marine animal and plant life, and other coastal resources, both onshore and offshore. To promote, protect and enhance the present and future availability of coastal resources for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public.
Current Programs:
Monitoring of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, New England Fishery management Council, and Maine's Department of Marine Resources as it relates to the management of marine fisheries; introduction of and monitoring of legislative bills that relate to marine fisheries and coastal access; increased access to Maine's coast by participating in the Land for Maine's Future Program and the DOT's Bridge Access Committee; Smelt Hill Dam removal project; national striped bass game fish status strategies; and monitoring of the gas tax equity commission.
