Goals: To preserve and protect the outstanding natural beauty, ecological vitality, and cultural distinctiveness of Acadia National Park and the surrounding communities.
Current Programs:
With nearly 3,000 members, Friends of Acadia represents park users in the continual betterment of the park and its operations. FOA raises private-sector funds in support of park capital projects, for programs that promote park stewardship; and for advocacy efforts among the general public, before Congress, and within the National Park Service and other government entities on key park conservation issues. Ongoing programs include the Acadia Youth Conservation Corps, Ridge Runners, Acadia Winter Trails Association, and the Friends of Acadia Journal, published three times yearly.
