Category: planning and municipal assistance
Goals: To assist towns with comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances subdivision, site plan and shoreland zoning, land use planning, urban design projects, development review, and training municipal boards. Planning assistance to coastal communities includes lake watershed, rivershed, and aquifer protection planning, harbor management and shoreland zoning. GPCOG also operates a GIS mapping division and a transportation planning division.
Current Programs:
Library of materials from the Maine Coastal Program; staff of planners with specialties in land use, transportation, and economic development planning; regional planning through the Coastal Corridor Coalition; and Census Data repository. Federal, state, and local maps available; GIS mapping and technical support services as well as 1976, 1986, 1995 and 2001 aerial photos for Cumberland County are available.
