Current Programs:
The Land for Maine's Future Program works with other state and federal agencies, along with municipalities and nonprofit conservation groups, to purchase lands and conservation easements. The Program's funds are matched by funds from other agencies and nonprofit organizations. The LMF Board oversees the Program. It is composed of six citizen members and the commissioners of five agencies, and is currently chaired by the Commissioner of Marine Resources. Since the creation of the fund, over 444,000 acres have been conserved including both fee and conservation acquisitions.
