Goals: The Maine Water Research Institute, a program of the Mitchell Center, provides leadership and focus to state research efforts dealing with freshwater and estuarine resources; and assists in the application and transfer of these research results.
Current Programs:
Research reports, information digests, and newsletters relating to water resources; sponsorship of the annual Maine Water Conference and numerous seminars and workshops; hosting of “PEARL – the source for environmental information in Maine” (www.pearl.maine.edu), a web site containing data and information on Maine’s water resources including water quality, freshwater biodiversity, flora and fauna, groundwater, and hydrology.
