Goals: To develop and promote safety programs for commercial fishermen and to assist fishermen and their families.

Current Programs:

Organize two annual events, the Fall Foliage Fiesta and Fishermen's Day, to raise funds for fishermen. Enroll fishermen into a soon to be mandatory Coast Guard approved safety training class and picking up the costs for them.

IFWA manages a bereavement fund to assist families who have lost a fisherman at sea, a fund to assist fishermen who have lost their boat at sea, and a fund to assist fishermen injured on their boat; a scholarship program for graduating seniors who are furthering their education; and provide gift certificates to graduating seniors entering the commercial fishing industry.
