Goals: A cooperative venture between Cornell University and the University of New Hampshire, the Shoals Marine Laboratory strives to provide quality marine education to college undergraduates and beginning graduate students.
Current Programs:
Credit courses offered in a wide range of marine subjects, such as field marine science, marine vertebrates, wetlands resources, underwater research, marine pollution, and marine botany. Noncredit courses also offered for adults and families on subjects such as Gulf of Maine ecology, history, and geology.
Resources: Library; laboratory space (for 60); three dormitories; a compressed air system for scuba divers; three Boston Whalers; a 19-foot sailboat; and a 47-foot research vessel.
