Text Box: Employee Misclassifications
An important issue to be dealt with in 2009 is employee misclassification, which is a significant problem in Maine as well as nationally. Governor Baldacci has issued an Executive Order creating a Task Force to analyze the problem in Maine and to make recommendations within the next 12 months to the Governor. The Workers’ Compensation Board has two representatives on the Task Force: Paul Dionne, Executive Director and Steve Minkowsky, Deputy Director. The Task Force has met in January, February, and March, and will continue to meet on a monthly basis.
