Re: Changes to 2002 Medical Fee Schedule

 

The Division of Health Plan and Provider Data at the Dept of Health & Human Services (DHHS) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has identified various inconsistencies in the 2002 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. These changes effect the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board Medical Fee Schedule which went into effect July 1, 2002. These changes can be found in CMS memo Transmittal AB-02-018 and CMS Transmittal AB-02-058.

These changes should be implemented effective July 1, 2002. Carriers need not search their files to retract payment for claims already paid or to retroactively pay claims. However, carriers should adjust claims brought to their attention.
