MIYHS: Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey

Upcoming Survey Information

The information on this page is primarily for our partners in survey administration. There is also some information for parents.

The next administration of the Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey will be in February of 2011. The survey will include kindergarten and grade 3 parent surveys, and in-school surveys for grades 5-12.

The K/3 level survey is a state level sample. Schools randomly selected to be in the sample have been sent a "save-the-date" card and more information will be coming in late August or early September. will be invited early in the 2010-2011 school year, and Administration will be on-going through the 2010-2011 school year. Schools are asked to provide parent contact information, to assist with the height and weight measurement and oral health screening and to send the survey home with students. All further follow-up will be done by Pan Atlantic SMS Group staff. All parents of kindergarteners and 3rd graders in participating schools are asked to participate.

For the 5/6 grade survey, the MS survey and the HS survey, there is an in-class administration of the survey. For the 5/6 grade survey, a sample of schools have been randomly will be selected and sent a "save-the-date" postcard. Schools in the sample are highly encouraged to participate. Schools NOT in the selected sample have the option to volunteer in order to get school and/or school district data. The release of this data is subject to our privacy policy, which can be found of the “reports and Fact Sheets page of this website. All students in the participating sampled and volunteer schools are asked to participate. Parents have the choice to have their student not take the survey, and students also can choose to not participate.
