Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID‑19)
Maine CDC is responding to the COVID‑19 pandemic, caused by a novel (new) coronavirus.
We urge Maine people to practice good hand hygiene, cover coughs and sneezes, and stay home as much as possible.
Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, Maine CDC will not hold a media briefing on Friday, November 27th. Media briefings will return to their normal schedule on Monday, November 30th.

Take Every Precaution
Take simple steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19, such as:
- Wear cloth face coverings when in public, when around people who don’t live in your household, and when you can’t stay 6 feet away from others, including when you
are outside. - Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Stay home as much
as possible

Know the Symptoms
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or
difficulty breathing - Fever
- Chills
- Repeated shaking with chills
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- Sore throat
- New loss of taste or smell
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea

Seek Medical Care if Needed
If you are concerned you have been exposed to COVID-19, call your healthcare provider, who will determine whether you should be tested. Decisions to test are left to the clinical judgment of your
healthcare provider.If you do not have a primary care provider, you can visit an urgent care or walk-in facility for care and testing. Always call before you arrive to let them know you are coming.

Maine CDC has a new media briefing schedule. Maine CDC will host a media briefing at 2:00 PM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is subject to change. If the time changes, we will update this statement with a new time.

Health Equity and COVID-19 Webinar Series

Maine DHHS is working to improve health equity and reduce disparities related to race and ethnicity, particularly disparities related to COVID-19. Maine DHHS is partnering with community colleagues to offer a series of monthly webinars focused on sharing creative solutions for working with Black, Indigenous and people of color with webinars on the third Wednesday of the month from 7:30-8:30 AM, with webinars currently scheduled through April 2021.
