Importance of Flu Shots

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevenetion, respiratory infections like influenza (the flu) are more serious in people who have asthma. Getting the flu can lead to other more serious complications. Studies show that in both adults and children who have asthma, getting a flu shot is a safe and effective way to minimize the risk of a more dangerous illness. • Having a flu shot lowers your chance of getting a more serious illness.
• Flu vaccine is provided at no cost by the State of Maine for children under the age of 19 years who are uninsured or under-insured. Ask your doctor if they participate in this program.
• Asthma can be managed.
