How To Use

Time and Effort

A benefit of self-paced learning is your ability to review the material until you feel comfortable with it. No one will be forcing you to move on to the next section.The time commitment for this course varies based on individual learning styles. The following predicts that your overall time to complete the course will be four to five hours. (to be determined based on beta test).

Approximate times to complete sections

Online Introduction (Navigation and How to Use) 10 - 15 mins.
Introduction   10 - 15 mins.
Learning Objectives  5 - 10 mins.
I Am a New LHO, What Now? 90 - 110 mins.
How Do I Solve This Problem? 60 - 75 mins.
You Make the Call 30 - 40 mins.
How Do I Enforce the Law? 25 - 35 mins.
Review and Evaluation 10 - 20 mins.

The course is a thorough introduction to local health officer roles and responsibilities, but it is not meant to be an all-inclusive course.

You get better at the job by communicating with other LHOs and other experts in the field. The more discussion you have with them, the more effective this course will be in your professional development.
