Termination of the Notification Process of EMS Clinicians Contacting Presumed or Known Positive COVID-19 Patients

We want to inform you that Maine EMS will discontinue the process of notifying EMS clinicians and EMS agency leadership about presumed or known positive COVID-19 patient interactions. Effective July 1, 2024, Maine EMS will no longer send the automated daily notifications.

Important Points:

Notification Cessation: Maine EMS has decided to end the daily notifications regarding possible exposure to COVID-19 based on a reassessment of operational needs and resources.

No Further Emails: EMS clinicians and EMS agency leadership will no longer receive emails from “ReportingServices-Uno@Maine.gov” regarding COVID-19 patient interactions.

Patient Demographics Reminder: While the notification process is ending, we still emphasize the importance of accurately recording patient demographics in MEFIRS. Use the patient’s legal name, date of birth, and home address for accurate record-keeping.

Next Steps:

EMS Clinicians: If you have any other questions or concerns regarding the termination of the notifications, contact Maine EMS at 207-626-3863.

EMS Agency Leadership: Update your internal processes to reflect this change. If you have any additional questions, please call Maine EMS at 207-626-3863.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this transition. As always, thank you for all you do; please stay safe.
