Validation Rule for Incident Facility Name

Description of the change

Effective Monday, July 1, 2024, Maine EMS will activate a MEFIRS validation rule requiring EMS clinicians to document the Incident Facility Name (eScene.10) when the incident location type (eScene.09) is equal to "Hospital" or "Nursing Home."

Reason for the change

While most EMS clinicians already document the facility name in the corresponding circumstances, there remains a 20% occurrence rate where the field is left blank. The validation rule for Incident Facility Name (eScene.10) serves as crucial documentation for Maine EMS and EMS agencies to provide insight into the state of interfacility transport in Maine.

Effect on users

When the incident location type is equal to "Hospital or "Nursing Home," you will also be prompted to select the Scene Facility name (code) from the drop-down list.
