Lunch and Learn: An Update to the Maine Social Vulnerability Index

Date: , -

Meeting Type: Virtual Only

Meeting Agenda:

The Maine Social Vulnerability Index (MESVI) was developed to help identify where vulnerable populations are located and what factors drive those vulnerabilities. The MESVI update incorporates more recently available population and socioeconomic data as well as methodology changes from US CDC for calculating the index. As a resource, the MESVI is intended to complement local level knowledge of a community’s vulnerabilities. There are limitations to what census-based data can reveal about a community’s vulnerabilities. This webinar will cover improvements enabled by the update as well as challenges and limitations inherent in the index.
