Governor Janet Mills today welcomed the announcement that Northeastern University will establish the Roux Institute, a graduate school and research center in Portland, funded by a $100 million grant from Maine-born benefactor David Roux and his wife Barbara Roux.
“The Roux Institute will be an anchor and an attraction to people far and wide,”said Governor Mills. “Not only will it prepare people for the jobs of the future in an era defined by rapid technological change, but it will bridge the workforce gap and attract new businesses to our state. Today, we look to the future and, today, I am grateful for the generosity and kindness of David and Barbara Roux. On behalf of the State of Maine, I say thank you to them both, and welcome home.”
