AUGUSTA - Rep. Allison Hepler, D-Woolwich, has been appointed to serve on the Department of Marine Resources Zone E Lobster Management Policy Council by Speaker of the House Rachel Talbot Ross, D-Portland, and Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash.
"I am proud to be a part of preserving this sustainable and economically viable fishery that is the heart of our coastal communities," said Hepler. "I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to this iconic heritage industry and to work alongside lobstermen in our community as a part of the Lobster Zone Council."
Established in 1996, the Lobster Management Policy Council advises the Commissioner of Marine Resources on matters of interest to the lobster industry. Zone E encompasses parts of Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties.
Hepler is the House chair of the Marine Resources Committee, and is a member of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee as well as the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee. She is serving her third term in the Maine House and represents Arrowsic, Georgetown, Phippsburg, West Bath and Woolwich.
