At the commencement of the hearing in the above-captioned case on
Tuesday, March 10, 1987, the representatives of the parties requested
time to confer and try to reach a settlement. After discussion, the
parties reached the following agreement which was read into the record
as follows:

"For the record my name is Milton Wright. I'm representing the
Pembroke Education Association, the Maine Teachers Association and the
National Education Association. The parties have discussed a settle-
ment which would do the following: (1) it would provide during the
1986-87 school year $200 for teacher pay over and above the regular
salary schedule. It would have a starting of the school day for
teachers at 8:15 and an ending of the school day at 2:15, with this
revised schedule to go into effect next Monday. Additionally, the
parties would immediately agree to commence negotiations for a suc-
cessor agreement, which negotiations would include discussion of
salaries with the understanding that the length of the school day for
teachers would be discussed prior to the actual negotiations on
salaries. Further, the parties would agree, with the concurrence of
the Board, to withdraw the prohibited practice complaint charge
against the school committee."

                                 -1-

"And for the record my name is Paul Hurlburt, and I'm repre-
senting the Pembroke School Committee, and the Pembroke School
Committee would agree with the terms as Mr. Wright has mentioned, and
would also agree to withdraw its counterclaim."

Dated at Augusta, Maine, this 10th day of March, 1987.
