How do I submit an internship application? 

If you would like to submit an internship application, please view the "Internship Application" page on this website. Simply mouse over the Internship Program tab at the top of the page and select "Internship Application."

When you submit an application, you'll be able to select which area of expertise you'd like to intern in. 

Can I work remotely? 

Yes. Most of MaineIT is working remotely now, and we'll work with you to ensure you have the technological flexibility needed to work from home. 

Do MaineIT internships pay? 

We understand that paying internships attract high-quality talent, so MaineIT strives to pay interns a reasonable wage for their time. While we can't guarantee a paying internship, we promise to pursue all options available to pay an intern. 

Can I get academic credit for MaineIT internships?

Yes! If you become an intern with us, the Internship Manager will coordinate with your school for applicable credit.

What are the benefits of an internship?  

Interning at MaineIT allows interns to work in a professional environment utilizing computer science and technology skills they are learning in school. MaineIT is the state's largest IT service organization, and interns are exposed to career professionals and a vital understanding of large and small-scale tech-oriented tteam environments.

How long does an internship last? 

Internships are normally three months, with the possibility of extending if applicable or necessary. 

What are the typical prerequisites for securing an internship at MaineIT?

We usually seek motivated, problem solving, undergraduate students with some prior work in internships, coursework or evidence of hands on programs/projects related to business or technology; who are pursuing or have completed degrees or certifications in Computer Science or training program for Application/Computer Systems, Hardware/Software, Expert Systems, Networking, Programming, Systems Analysis, Web Design or Social Media applications.

Preference was is usually given to students with a good GPA and  had at least 1-2 years of experience as an intern and/or completion of projects, or experience that is work related and within the area of technology or business.

Are there flexible schedule options to accommodate class schedules for students?

Yes, one of our guiding principles in our internship program is allowing students the tool they need to complete their academic requirements while working in MaineIT. Our supervisors and mentors will do our best to accommodate students needs.
