Coastal Access & Working Waterfronts
- MDOT/Small Harbor Improvement Program: Maine Dept. of Transportation program provides funds to protect/enhance harbor infrastructure
- Right of Way Re-discovery Program: helps communities keep track of existing
public access through small grants of approximately
$1,000 to municipalities and to land trusts working with their local town, to research
forgotten or overlooked public rights-of-way
- Shore and Harbor Planning Grants Program: grants to promote sound waterfront planning, harbor management, and balanced development of shore and harbor areas to improve marine infrastructure and assure access to the shore
Coastal Community Planning
- Regional Challenge Grants: provides non-competitive grants to support promising regional initiatives designed to establish new mechanisms for managing governmental affairs more efficiently while integrating transportation, and land use management more effectively, consistent with smart growth principles.
Outreach & Education
- Coastal Education Sponsorships: small discretionary grants to educational efforts relating to Maine coastal issues and projects which relate to greater ocean literacy
