Maine Retail Sales Reports & Data Files

September 2009 Retail Sales

Total taxable retail sales in September 2009 were down 7.2% from September 2008, and 8.3% lower year-to-date compared to the same period last year.  Lodging sales were 3% higher in September 2009 than in September of 2008, but year-to-date sales in this category are still negative.

Maine Revenue Services revises historical data when necessary to reflect changes in business filings and category reassignments. Updated versions of these reports reflect those revisions and should never be combined with previously downloaded reports. All figures are in thousands of dollars. All blank cells represent information that legally must be withheld in order to preserve taxpayer confidentiality.
